Spinner Ajantha Mendis has been left out of limited-overs squads against New Zealand, which will be playing in Sri Lanka, after failing to recover from a side strain injury which he sustained during the ICC World Twenty20 tournament earlier this year.
Charith Senanayake, the team's manager was quoted by PTI, "Ajantha is still recovering from a side strain which he suffered during the World T20. That is our only concern right now."
The 27-year-old hurt himself in the opening match against Zimbabwe. Despite that he continued playing for the side and ended up picking 15 wickets at an average of 9.80.
