The recently released biopic on India’s most successful captain MS Dhoni has created stir among the fans, especially in Ranchi. As reported by IndianExpress, Dhoni’s biopic — MS Dhoni: The Untold Story has been running excellently in theatres of Ranchi. For the first two weeks at Fun Cinemas of the city, they had 15 shows per day in their theatres and for first 12 days at stretch, all shows went houseful. Since India recently played a One-Day International (ODI) at Ranchi, which is the hometown of skipper Dhoni, few more stories came into notice which were either not showed or were false. We present five such untold stories which remain unfolded.
1. Story of Dhoni’s brother Narendra
In the entire biopic, there was nothing about Dhoni’s brother Narendra, which gave fans a big let down. From Dhoni’s family, only his father, mother and sister Jayanti were highlighted in the movie but not his brother. As per Chanchal Bhattacharya, who was Dhoni’s coach at district level, it was quite surprising for him to not see anything about Narendra, although they were opposite in nature. “It’s surprising that Narendra is missing from the biopic. They grew up together, although they were opposite in nature. Mahi has always been ice cool, while Narendra carried a volatile temper. They separated about four years back, but I don’t know the reason,” said Bhattacharya.
2. No mention about Deori Temple
The Deori Temple of Ranchi plays an important part in Dhoni’s life which moviemakers ignored totally. It is said that if Dhoni is in town, then he makes sure his visit to the temple once in a month, especially on 7, 16 and 25th date of the month because those numbers make seven. Bhattacharya also spoke about that story and added, “Also, the Deori temple deserved a mention. Mahi never went to an important cricket match without offering prayers at the temple.”
3. Wrong information of Dhoni playing for his school
In the movie, it was shown that Dhoni represented his school — Jawahar Vidya Mandir in 1999, which according to Bhattacharya is false as he said, “The movie shows Dhoni playing for his school, Jawahar Vidya Mandir, in 1999. It’s wrong. Mahi, along with his pals Santosh Lal and Shabir Hussain, took admission at Gossner College that year.”
4. Actual story of dejected Dhoni at Kolkata Airport
Bhattacharya went on to reveal another interesting part of the Dhoni’s story and quipped, “The film captures Mahi standing dejected at Kolkata airport after missing a flight to Agartala. But he reached there on an afternoon flight and was the 12th man in that game. The filmmakers didn’t do enough research for the biopic.”

As for the movie, it’s good and enjoyable, but the surroundings it shows were never there.”
