The Asian rivals, India and Sri Lanka, will be competing for the championship of the shortest format of the game in the final of the ICC World T20 2014 at Dhaka. Bharath Seervi looks back at the encounters between India and Sri Lanka in T20Is in a statistical way.

Since Pakistan’s issues in the Cricket world due to terrorism, India vs Sri Lanka has become the major Asian rivalry, overtaking the traditional India vs Pakistan. Already, India and Sri Lanka have met each other 144 times in ODIs which is the most between two teams.

In Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), they have played five matches against each other since 2009.
