After starting with a defeat, India have bounced back in the Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Zimbabwe as they registered a thumping victory over the hosts at the Harare Sports Club. India received their first defeat of the tour as they lost the T20I series opener by a couple of runs but they held their nerves and fought back to claim victory in the following match. Led by MS Dhoni, the young Indian team has now squared the three-match series and the fate lies upon the result of the decider on Wednesday. Here are the highlights from India’s dominant victory in the second T20I. Live Cricket Scorecard: India vs Zimbabwe, 2nd T20I, at Harare

1. Early success: Zimbabwe batting’s strength lies in their opening pair that consists of record-maker Hamilton Masakadza and cool-minded Chamu Chibhabha. However, both the batsmen failed to make any significant contribution getting dismissed on their individual scores of 10 each.

2. Barinder Sran’s 4-for: Barinder Sran pulled off a dream spell in his T20I debut. The bowler bagged 4-wickets trading only 10 runs in his 4-overs and registering the best figures by an Indian in T20I debut. His success with the ball was a key factor behind India’s success in the second T20I. Among his wickets were Chibhabha and Masakadza- the two destructive batsmen from Zimbabwe.

3. Jasprit Bumrah’s 3-for: Complementing Sran’s brilliant performance, Jasprit Bumrah also became one of the most effective bowlers in the match. Bumrah picked up 3 wickets in his 4 overs, giving away 11 runs. Bumrah picked Elton Chigumbura, the star of Zimbabwe’s victory in first T20I and ensured a low target.

4. Peter Moor’s gritty 31: Peter Moor, who came in as a replacement to wicketkeeper-batsman Richmond Mutumbami, remained the only batsman for Zimbabwe to add some decent runs to the scoreboard. The batsman, amidst regular fall of wickets, held his ground strong and scored a 32 ball-31, taking the score to a respectable total.

5. Opening partnership for India: Zimbabwe bowlers remained highly ineffective in the match, failing to pick up any wicket. The opening pair of Mandeep Singh and KL Rahul added 103 runs, which is the second highest for India in T20Is.

6. Mandeep’s maiden T20I 50: In order to take India to their desired victory, Mandeep went on to score his maiden T20I half-century. The batsman spared 40 balls, hit 6 fours and a six to get to his fifty and ended India’s innings in style, hitting the last boundary of his innings and India’s innings, completing his 50 and handing India the win.

7. India’s first 10-wicket victory in T20Is: As India chased down the low target of 99, India registered their first 10-wicket victory in T20Is. Their previous best came against Sri Lanka as the team chased 82 and won by 9 wickets.
