India Women vs South Africa Women only Test: Stats highlights

As the Mithali Raj led India Women beat South Africa Women by an innings and 34 runs and achieved their second Test victory on trot, Sandipan Banerjee finds out the stats highlights of the Mysore Test.   

Test matches in Women’s cricket are generally quite rare. Once in a while the women cricketers get the opportunity to play the longest format of the game. The last Test between India Women and South Africa Women was only the 137th Test match in Women’s cricket. Here is the Stats highlights of the game.

1. This triumph of India Women is only their fifth Test victory.

2. Thirush Kamini opened the batting and scored 192. She has now became the second highest scorer for India in Women’s Tests. Skipper Mithali Raj’s 214 against England women at Taunton in 2002 is still the highest Test score for India. On the same list, Poonam Raut’s 130 is this placed in sixth position.

3. During India’s innings two Indian batswomen Thirush Kamini and Poonam Raut scored centuries. It was the first time two Indian batswomen have scored hundreds in the same innings.

4. It was also the first time for India in Women’s Tests that two Indian bowlers have taken four wickets in an innings. During South Africa’s first innings medium pacer, Harmanpreet Kaur took a five-for and off-spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad supported her with a four wicket haul.
