Kiran Grandhi smiled his way to picking probably the strongest Delhi Daredevils (DD) team in history. There was no Zaheer Khan, which meant that Delhi needed a new captain. They went for their best bet: not only is Gautam Gambhir one of the shrewdest and most successful IPL captains, he is also a local star, which will definitely help Delhi’s cause. They had retained Chris ‘Tipo’ Morris and the terrific Indian young duo of Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant, both of whom can win matches single-handedly. They needed to bolster this already dangerous batting line-up with some more, and they did exactly that. The bowling seems slightly weak in comparison, but it is still quite formidable.

Heavy artillery throughout

This is a no-holds-barred batting line-up. Pant and Iyer were already there, as mentioned above. With Gambhir acting as the fulcrum, Jason Roy, Colin Munro, and Glenn Maxwell will simply add to the firepower. Naman Ojha can hit too, as can Daniel Christian and young Abhishek Sharma, and Morris will round things off down the order.

And if you need stability, the Under-19 pair of Pant and Manjot Kalra will look to it. All in all, Delhi have the batting line-up other franchises will have to look out for.

A bowling line-up decent enough

Both Kagiso Rabada and Trent Boult can run through sides, and will probably wreak havoc as a pair. Unfortunately, the rest of the pace attack (Morris excluded) consists of an injury-prone Mohammed Shami and some untested talent.

The spin attack, on the other hand, looks safer in the hands of Amit Mishra, Jayant Yadav (yes, he is alive and kicking), and Shahbaz Nadeem, backed by Rahul Tewatia and that Nepalese whiz kid Sandeep Lamichhane.
