Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) registered an 8-run win against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 final thus clinching their first title. It was yet another clinical performance from their batsmen initially and the bowlers too did a fine job. RCB were set a target of 209, but narrowly missed out, despite getting off to a good start in their chase. RCB missed a golden opportunity to win their maiden title at their home ground. Let us have a look at the highlights of the match.  Full Cricket Scorecard: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, IPL 2016 Final

David Warner’s fifty: Warner started the innings off well and  played a captain’s knock as he finished with 38-ball 69. He put on 69 runs off just 40 balls for the first wicket and in the process went past 800 IPL runs. Warner becomes the first player after Virat Kohli to go past 800 runs in a single IPL season.  Full Cricket Updates: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, IPL 2016 Final

David Warner gives Chris Gayle a helping hand: Gayle had fallen down after bowling a delivery. Warner however helped him up and the two shared a light moment on the field.

Yuvraj Singh’s blitz: Yuvraj Yuvraj looked at his very best during his stay at the crease.  He hit a 107 meter six, with utter elegance, which reminded everyone off the six he hit in the ICC World T20 2007 off Brett Lee in the semi-final. He scored 38 off 23 and was instrumental in ensuring that SRH got some momentum in the middle overs

Ben Cutting’s all-round show: Cutting turned out to be the difference between both the sides. He smashed 39 off just 15, which included a 117 meter six, which he hit off the Shane Watson in the final over of the SRH innings. He also chipped in with a couple of wickets, one of which was the crucial one of Chris Gayle.

Chris Gayle-Kohli provide RCB ultimate start: Gayle came good in the final and smashed as many as eight big ones on his way to a 38-ball 76. He put on 114 for the opening wicket off just 63 deliveries for the opening wicket along with Virat Kohli with RCB looking well on course to a comfortable win.

RCB’s collapse: After Gayle fell for 76, RCB kept losing wickets at regular intervals. SRH made the RCB batsmen pay and soon RCB found themselves in deep trouble.  The likes of AB de Villliers, Shane Watson failed to make any sort of impact.

SRH win maiden IPL title: SRH with this win have won their first ever IPL tournament. They were clinical in throughout the tournament and had a balanced team. Their bowlers backed up their batsmen’s effort and vice-versa. They perhaps had the best set of bowlers in the tournament and with Warner going nuts at the top, they were always in contention to win the tournament.
