Shakib Al Hasan became the highest wicket-taker against Zimbabwe in One-Day International (ODI) as he picked up two wickets in the fourth ODI against Zimbabwe at Dhaka. Varun Arora looks at the bowlers with the highest wickets against Zimbabwe.
As Bangladesh trounced Zimbabwe by 21 runs in the fourth ODI at Dhaka, Shakib-al-Hasan achieved a unique record as he became the highest wicket-taker against Zimbabwe in ODI history with 60 wickets. The previous record was held by the Sri Lanka’s legend Muttiah Muralitharan who scalped 59 wickets against Zimbabwe. Shakib was the first one to pick up a wicket in the match as he removed Vusi Sibanda in the 11th over the match. Shakib sprayed in an arm ball which struck Sibanda right in front of the wickets after which he was out leg-before. Hamilton Masakadza became the second victim of his arm-ball as the ball sneaked through Masakadza’s defence and shattered the middle stump.
In this series alone, Shakib has picked up eight wickets from four matches with the best figures of four for 41. In the first game of the series, same match Shakib also scored 101. Below is the list of highest wicket takers against Zimbabwe in ODIs:
