Visakhapatnam: Dec 1, 2011

Karnataka medium-pacer Abhimanyu Mithun, who has been drafted into the squad in place of injured Praveen Kumar, had long spell at the nets ahead of their second one-dayer against the West Indies at the Dr YSR Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium on Thursday.

Under the watchful eyes of bowling coach Eric Simmons, the Karnataka bowler generated good pace and bounce as the Indian line-up batted in their usual order with last match's hero Rohit Sharma being the last to pad up.

With fresh legs, Mithun generated good bounce and seam movements as Simmons was seen giving tips from the backdrop as the duo worked in tandem in the nets stretched more than two half hours at an adjacent venue to the stadium.

Mithun took the much of the load from the three Indian seamers R Vinay Kumar, Umesh Yadav and Varun Aaron but the Karnataka pacer may well have to wait for his turn with the three seamers doing a fine job so far.

And going by the mood in the camp it is most likely that stand-in skipper Virender Sehwag will retain the same XI.

Newly-married India off-spinner Ravichandran Aswhin was conspicuous by his absence as he skipped the optional net session with the other slow bowlers in Ravindra Jadeja and Rahul Sharma bowled in tandem.
