England batsman Alastair Cook on Sunday expressed that his side has not become complacent after becoming the No 1 side in the world in Test cricket.

England’s form in Test cricket has been on a decline following their series whitewash of India last summer, having lost five in their past nine Test matches, including the one against South Africa by an innings and 12 runs.

“We don’t ever think we are the best team in the world,” he said.

“We don’t talk about that as a side. The rankings show we have managed to get to the top of the tree. Andy Flower brushes that aside. He is determined that we improve as people, as players and as a side. Win, lose or draw, we have that mentality,” Cook said.

“We have got a lot of confidence from knowing we can beat sides – that has come. If you look through the team we have got a lot of people with a lot experience.

“We have been through a lot of different situations as a side and we know how to deal with them. That breeds confidence but we never walk around that dressing room thinking we have made it,” he was quoted as saying by express.co.uk
