Australian batsman David Warner has been given an official reprimand after he pleaded guilty to an ICC code of conduct offence in the fourth One-Day International against Sri Lanka in Sydney.
Warner top scored for Australia with 60, in the washed out ODI, but was clearly disappointed with the decision that saw him given out lbw off the bowling of Thisara Perera.
He first stood his ground, shaking his head, and was found to have breached the code corresponding to ‘showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match.’
Warner accepted the Level 1 offence which meant there was no need for a formal hearing, as reported by cricket.com.au
Paul Reiffel, Marais Erasmus, Richard Kettleborough and John Ward, the four umpires involved in the match reported the incident.
Meanwhile in the Big Bash League, Australia’s Shane Warne has been slapped with a $4500 fine and a one-match ban for his altercation with Marlon Samuels.
