Ashwin Srinivasan, the son of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president N Srinivasan was arrested by the Bandra police on Tuesday after he was involved in a brawl with the staff of Escobar, a pub located in Bandra and ended up hitting a constable when the police intervened, which resulted in his arrest.
A report by Mumbai Mirror says that Ashwin argued with the staff at the pub after his demand for a drink was turned down post the 1:30am deadline. When the bar officials refused to budge, Ashwin and his friend picked up a fight with them and refused to pay the Rs 30,000 bill they had run up.
Ashwin and his friend Avi threatened everybody around and started dropping names. At one point, Ashwin mentioned that he belonged to the family that owns an IPL team.
Soon the cops were called up to bring the situation in control. However, when cops told him that he must clear the bill and leave the restaurant, an enraged Ashwin punched a constable. Ashwin and Avi were then arrested and taken to the Bandra police station.
Both of them spent the night in Bandra police station's lock-up and were released on bail on Tuesday afternoon. As per the bail conditions, they will now have to present themselves at the Bandra police station every Monday.
