Bengal wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha said they were confident to take on defending champions Jharkhand in their second match of East Zone leg of Vijay Hazare Trophy today.

Skipper Sourav Ganguly missed Bengal's match eve practice as he is in Mumbai for a meeting connected with his IPL side Pune Warriors.

He however would return in time to open for Bengal, even as there were concerns about the fitness of Ashok Dinda (niggle) and Iresh Saxena (fever).

The team think tank hoped that the duo would be fit in time to take field.

"They are a very strong side boasting one-day specialists in (skipper Saurabh) Tiwary and (Ishank) Jaggi. We are not taking them lightly. But we are confident of putting up a match-winning performance," Saha, fresh from his Team India stint in Australia Test series, said.

Bengal thrashed Orissa by seven wickets to pocket five points, while Jharkhand have four with their three-wicket win over Tripura.

In another fixture, the two bottom-placed teams Orissa will take on Tripura at Jadavpur University second campus ground in Salt Lake. (PTI)
