The British media has hailed the performance of Pakistani off spinner Saeed Ajmal after his ten-wicket haul in the first Test against England.

Mike Selvey of The Guardian wrote in his column, “Pakistan are very good at playing in front of an empty house and Saeed Ajmal is a man of many tricks. But the stage England’s players have reached now it is difficult to teach old dogs new tricks.”

British newspaper The Sunday Express likened Ajmal to the legendary off spinner Muttiah Muralitharan. One of the leading English tabloids, The Daily Mirror criticised the visiting team for throwing away wickets in the first Test.

The newspaper remarked, “It is important is that we don’t run away from facts and truth. We threw away our wickets in this match and this was certainly England’s worst start to a match since India reduced them to 124 for eight at Trent Bridge last summer.”
