Cape Town: Oct 21, 2012

Delhi Daredevils skipper Mahela Jayawardene won the toss and elected to field first against Perth Scorchers in the Group A clash of Champions League T20 2012 at Newlands, Cape Town on Sunday.

Delhi Daredevils remain the only Indian Premier League team in contention of qualifying for the semi-finals. However, their task won’t be easy as they take on the table toppers of the group-Perth Scorchers.

Delhi’s previous encounter was marred by rain and they currently stand with six points in two games after a brilliant victory over IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders in the first game.

Delhi will again face the problem of plenty in selection when they can choose only four out of five quality T20 foreign players – Mahela Jayawardene, Kevin Pietersen, David Warner, Ross Taylor and Morne Morkel. Given the fact that they have Virender Sehwag and Unmukt Chand to back the batting, they have a strong line-up to face any quality attack.

Teams:

Delhi Daredevils: Mahela Jayawardene (c), Virender Sehwag, Kevin Pietersen, Unmukt Chand, Ross Taylor, Pawan Negi (wk), Naman Ojha, Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar, Morne  Morkel, Umesh Yadav

Perth Scorchers: Shaun Marsh, Hershelle Gibbs, Simon Katich, Marcus North (c), Mitchell Marsh, Luke Ronchi (wk), Nathan Rimmington, Brad Hogg, Joe Mennie, Michael Beer, Nathan Coulter-Nile
