Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have set a mammoth target of 191 runs for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012 final match at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday.
Batting first, Chennai got off to a blazing start with both the openers Murali Vijay and Michael Hussey looked confident.
The duo took calculated risks and kept the scoreboard moving at a brisk pace. Vijay smashed 19 runs off Brett Lee in the last over of power play.
A worried Kolkata skipper Gautam Gambhir used as many as six bowlers within the first ten overs.
Kolkata finally got the first breakthrough in the 11th over as Rajat Bhatia got rid of Mural Vijay for 42 runs.
Hussey on the other end reached his fifty in the 14th over while helping the home team a respectable total.
On a flat track, even the in-form Sunil Narine looked helpless as the Chennai batsmen kept on bludgeoning the bowlers.
Kallis, however dismissed Hussey for 54 runs in the 18th over, ending the 73-run partnership between the southpaw and Suresh Raina.
Raina later accompanied by in-form skipper MS Dhoni powered CSK to a massive total of 190 runs.
Brief Score: CSK 190 for 3 in 20 overs (Suresh Raina 73, Michael Hussey 54, Murali Vijay 42; Rajat Bhatia 1 for 23) vs KKR
