Senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde on Thursday said that instead of nominating master cricketer Sachin Tendulkar to the Rajya Sabha, the union government should confer Bharat Ratna award on him.
Munde was talking to the media in the city during his visit to attend the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Marathwada Mukti Sangram Museum here.
He was answering a question about the government's nomination of Tendulkar to the upper house of Parliament.
Shiv Sena executive president, Uddhav Thackeray, who also attended the function, said cryptically that "Congress and Sachin know well what is going on between them". (PTI)
