Delhi Ranji team Assistant coach Sanjeev Sharma said, his team only focused on cricket and nothing else ahead of their Ranji Trophy opener following the sacking of coach Manoj Prabhakar by the Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) on Wednesday.

"The players are not thinking about anything else apart from cricket. I admit the coach speaking about team issues in the media is never good for the players especially when we are about to begin the season. Mithun Manhas and Shikhar Dhawan are senior players and they know how to concentrate on cricket. I expect them to guide the youngsters," Sharma said.

The 18-year-old Unmukt Chand, who was cricticised by Manoj Prabhakar, said he was not prepared to let the adverse remarks affect his preparations.

"I always shared a good relation with the coach. It was disappointing that he spoke about my shortcomings to the media instead of talking to me," Unmukt said.

"Sharma sir and Mithun bhaiya (captain) though told me to concentrate on the game. The best way to reply to such remarks will be to score lots of runs," he added.

Prabhakar, on the other hand, said that the DDCA refused to speak to him although he had tried to get in touch with them on numerous occasions. "I tried to get in touch with them many times on Wednesday but they refused to answer. What else can I do?" he asked.
