Shikhar Dhawan scored a blistering half-century, while Kumar Sangakkara smashed a quick fire 44 as Deccan Chargers reach 196 for 2 in their allotted 20 overs in their match against Rajasthan Royals in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012 match at Jaipur on Tuesday.
Deccan, after electing to bat, got off to a steady start as openers made the most of the flat batting track and fast out-field.
Rajasthan bowlers seemed ineffective as Dhawan and Sangakkara made merry, stitching up an opening partnership of 94 runs.
Sangakkara finally departed when Brad Hodge had the left-hander caught by wicket-keeper Dishant Yagnik.
Few over later, Siddharth Trivedi struck to dismiss Dhawan, just when he looked dangerous.
Dan Christian and JP Duminy, who replaced Cameron White, got down providing the final flurry for the visitors.
Duminy was particularly severe on Amit Singh hitting the bowler for three boundaries in the 18th over before hammering the same bowler for two sixes and boundary in the final over .
Christian then smashed Pankaj Singh for two sixes and boundary in the next over which yielded 18 runs.
The Chargers made a few changes to their side. JP Duminy comes in place of Cameron White, while Tanmay Mishra and Abhishek Jhunjhunwala are also included.
The Royals have made just one change, bringing in Rajasthan Ranji wicketkeeper Dishant Yagnik in place of Shreevats Goswami, who pulled up with an injury just 15 minutes before the toss.
Brief Scores: DC 196 for 2 in 20 overs (Shikhar Dhawan 52, Kumar Sangakkara 44; Brad Hodge 1 for 13, Sidharth Trivedi 1 for 27) vs RR
