Michael Vaughan said if the England batsmen fail to negotiate Saeed Ajmal’s deliveries, they will lose the Test series.

Ajmal took career-best figures of 7-55 against England on the first day of the first Test match against England in Dubai.

"England was outplayed from the fifth over on. If Ajmal continues to do what he's done today, he'll win the series," Vaughan was quoted saying by The BBC.

"This is a bit of a series of the unknown for this team because they've not played in the subcontinent and not faced any really world-class spinners. The ball hasn't done a great deal but Ajmal got 7-55 and spinners have taken 9-112," he added.

The Former England felt England were around 200 runs short of a good score in their first innings considering the pitch being so placid.

"The pitch is a belter. You'd say par is probably 400 so England are 200 runs light of a par score. They got out playing some poor shots. You saw them clap themselves off but they'll know they let themselves down," he added.

Vaughan believes even if England would have played Monty Panesar, he wouldn’t have managed a performance of Ajmal’s quality.

"An off-spinner like Ajmal takes some looking at and getting used to because there's a lot of wrist involved. There's a lot arm and suddenly it spins in but an off-spinner from England, while they're all very pretty and nice, it's not a mysterious action," he added. (ANI)
