England skipper Andrew Strauss won the toss and chose to field against West Indies in the third Test at Edgbaston on Saturday.

England have included Graham Onions and Steven Finn in the playing XI. West Indies have rested Shivnarine Chanderpaul.

Persistent rain on Thursday and Friday ensured that ground-staff were forced to keep the playing area covered through and also prevented captains Darren Sammy and Andrew Strauss from spinning the toss or declaring their playing elevens.

Trailing the three-Test series 0-2 after losses at Lord's and Trent Bridge, the West Indies were aiming to salvage some pride by winning at Edgbaston but Sammy admitted the weather had now dented those hopes.

Teams

England Adrian Barath, Kieran Powell, Assad Fudadin, Darren Bravo, Narsingh Deonarine, Marlon Samuels, Denesh Ramdin(w), Darren Sammy(c), Tino Best, Sunil Narine, Ravi Rampaul

West Indies Andrew Strauss(c), Alastair Cook, Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell, Jonathan Bairstow, Matt Prior(wk), Tim Bresnan, Graeme Swann, Graham Onions, Steven Finn
