A gallant fifty by Gautam Gambhir helped Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) reach 165 runs in the tenth T20 match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Gambhir and Jacques Kallis got off to a rollicking start as they added 60 runs for the first wicket. But Kallis was dismissed in seventh over by Daniel Vettori for 22 runs.

But the KKR skipper continued to pile up runs, this time, with Manvinder Bisla who played cameo of 46 runs off 29 balls before being sent back to pavilion by ace spinner Muttiah Muralitharan. Bisla along with Gambhir added 65 runs for the second wicket – the highest partnership of the match.

Gambhir top scored for the Kolkata franchise with 64 runs. He was dismissed by Zaheer Khan in 17th over who also got rid of Manoj Tiwary in the same over.

Zaheer Khan and Muttiah Muralitharan’s wily bowling in the death overs oulled RCB back in the match as the two senior bowlers put brakes on KKR batting with wickets at regular intervals.

Both ended with identical figures of two wickets conceding 31 runs.

But pick of the bowlers for the Bangalore franchise was R Vinay Kumar who scalped two wickets while giving away only 18 runs.

Earlier Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has won the toss and elected to bat/bowl against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the tenth match in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

Brief Score: KKR 165 for 8 in 20 overs (Gautam Gambhir 64, Manvinder Bisla 46; R Vinay Kumar 2 for 18, Zaheer Khan 2 for 31, Muttiah Muralitharan 2 for 31) vs RCB
