Out of the Indian team due to poor form, Harbhajan Singh is now likely to miss the remainder of the Ranji season due to an injury to the left shin.
According to media reports the shin injury has been a recurrence of an old injury. A source was quoted in Times of India as saying, "He was very keen to turn out for Punjab and do well so that he can come back into reckoning for the Indian team. But now that this has happened, he won't be available till the end of December.
Harbhajan is currently at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore working on a rehabilitation program. The bone scans have been done and signs are not too good for the Punjab captain.
The source further added, "There is no way that he can start bowling before the end of December. In fact, he will go back home for now and assess his injury later this month.”
Following his dismal performance in the West Indies and the Lord's Test in England earlier this summer, Harbhajan has been left out of the national team.
And since then he has missed the five-match ODI series against England and three-match Test series against the West Indies at home.
He has also been ignored for the the ongoing five-match One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against the West Indies.
Harbhajan also did not have a great run in the previous Ranji matches.
