Hashim Amla on Sunday created history when he scored the first triple century in Test cricket for South Africa, on the fourth day of the first Test against England at the Kennington Oval in London.

Right-handed batsman Amla completed his triple ton with a boundary off Tim Bresnan, to reach 303 not out off 515 balls which included 35 hits to the fence.

Amla's knock put South Africa in complete command against England in the first Test. The winner of the three-match series will decide which team will become the No.1 side in Test cricket.

The 31-year-old has scored 4,464 runs from 59 Test matches for South Africa, at an average of 46.98.
