South Africa reached 191 for three at Tea against New Zealand on the first day of the second Test match at Port Elizabeth on Friday.
Hashim Amla continued his good form with the bat as he scored his 25th half-century in Test cricket. He was unbeaten on 70 at Tea. He added an unbeaten stand of 54 runs with AB de Villiers for the fourth wicket.
South Africa lost skipper Graeme Smith and Jacques Kallis in quick succession soon after Lunch.
Earlier, hosts South Africa managed to reach 99 for the loss of one wicket at Lunch.
Smith was dismissed soon after reaching his 36th Test fifty.
Doug Bracewell dismissed Alviro Petersen early with South Africa’s score on 29. However skipper Smith and Amla managed to stabilize hosts innings. They added 92 runs for the second wicket.
Earlier, South Africa skipper Smith won the toss and elected to bat first against the Kiwis. The Proteas come into the match at the back of the comprehensive victory by an innings and 45 runs against the Kiwis in the first Test.
The hosts have come into the match with just one change. Rory Kliedveldt has replaced the injured Vernon Philander.
