Brad Hogg's three-wicket haul helped Australia win by 56 runs against New Zealand, who were bowled out 83, well inside 17th over at Colombo in their ICC World Twenty20 Championship warm-up match on Saturday.
Hogg finished with figures of 3 for 23 off his four overs, while young Pat Cummins picked up two wickets for 13 runs off his three overs. Shane Watson also picked up two wickets for seven runs off his three overs.
This is the Kiwis lowest total and worst defeat in Twenty20 format. New Zealand restricted Australia to 139 for 6, with former skipper Daniel Vettori picking up one wicket and Adam Milne finishing with 2 for 27.
Opener Watson was the top scorer for the Australian with 27 runs and Matthew Wade remained unbeaten on 25.
Chasing 40, the Black Caps lost wickets quickly, skipper Ross Taylor top scoring for them with 22.
New Zealand will face South Africa on Monday in their last warm-up match before the main World Twenty20 Championship kicks off on Friday at Pallekele.
