Bangladesh’s decision to bowl first after winning the toss as Ireland openers William Porterfield and Stirling punished their bowlers.
Stirling cracked five sixes and as many boundaries to score a quickfire 71, which came from just 41 balls.
Porterfield scored 17 off 11 balls, which included two boundaries.
Bangladesh got their first breakthrough when Porterfield was run out in the fifth over.
After his dismissal, Stirling joined forces with Ed Joyce to take their side forward.
Stirling and Joyce added 64 runs for the second wicket, which helped Ireland set a huge first innings total.
