Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli led India's charge with their unbeaten 56-run stand against England as they reached 80 for one from 10 overs, in their ICC World T20 Group A clash at Colombo.
Gambhir remained unbeaten on 26, which came off 22 balls. His innings was studded with three boundaires.
Kohli continued his good run with the bat scoring 40 not out, cracking six boundaries .
India’s move to open the innings with Irfan Pathan backfired when the all-rounder was dismissed by England pacer Steven Finn in the third over of the innings.
Pathan scored eight runs off as many balls, hitting one boundary.
Earlier, England captain Stuart Broad won the toss and elected to field.
