Ireland beat Bangladesh by five runs in a thrilling ICC World T20 wamp-up clash at Colombo on Monday.
Requiring a target of 165 to win, Shakib-al-Hasan struck a brilliant 23-ball 52 to lead Bangladesh's run chase. However, Irish bowlers restricted the run flow by picking up wickets at regular intervals tpowards the latter half of the innings.
Kevin O'Brien was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh with three wickets for 24 runs in four overs.
Bangladesh’s decision to bowl first after winning the toss as Ireland openers William Porterfield and Stirling punished their bowlers.
Stirling cracked five sixes and as many boundaries to score a quickfire 71, which came from just 41 balls.
Porterfield scored 17 off 11 balls, which included two boundaries.
