Even as he led Sri Lanka to a big win with a fluent half-century, skipper Mahela Jayawardene stressed on the ploy to rotate his bowlers, which laid the West Indies low in the ICC World Twenty20 on Saturday.
"When they were going after our bowlers I just kept changing the bowlers. We just wanted to create pressure, so just kept changing. Sometimes it works, sometime it doesn't," Jayawardene said in the presentation ceremony.
He called the nine-wicket win a good performance overall.
"Overall a very good effort. Once we got through the first 12 overs I told Kumar (Sangakkara) we should finish this as quickly as possible."
He had a word of praise for his bowlers.
"They bowled well, asked them questions."(PTI)
