Delhi Daredevils bowling coach TA Sekar on Friday said that, he is expecting a tough match against Pune Warriors India to be played at Ferozeshah Kotla. Sekar highlighted the strength of his opponents which his team can’t afford to take lightly.

“Pune has been doing well and they have got some middle order batsman who can finish the match. Even up the order they have got some great batsmen. They also have very good Indian bowlers. Overall they are good side and we are not at all taking them lightly. It would be an exciting match for the fans to enjoy,” he was quoted by delhidaredevils.com, the teams official website.

The former Indian fast bowler also expressed satisfaction with his bowling attack. Delhi currently have a strong pace attack featuring Morne Morkel, Umesh Yadav and Irfan Pathan, and the success of left-arm spinner Shabaz Nadeem has boosted the attack. In-fact Delhi has one more genuine fast bowler in the ranks, Varun Aaron who is recovering from a stress reaction in his lower back.

Bowling coach Sekar said, “He is getting close to 100 per cent fitness. In a week or so, he would be able to bowl in the IPL. In the case of a fast bowler’s injury, you can never rush because if it recurs again everything is set back by two months. So we are playing it safe and he is almost ready to get back to cricket. As it is, he hasn’t played cricket in a long time we would want him to be mentally match fit also before he can step on the field.”

Regarding improvement in the bowling after a match, Sekar said. “We normally don’t talk to the bowlers immediately after the match because it is not right to do that.”

He was impressed with Umesh Yadav’s bowling and added,” Umesh has done extremely well in past year, he also bowled well in Australia and in first four matches, he was at his best. If you see couple of fours that were hit they were basically edged and in T20 it is bound to happen and that doesn’t bother me. I know he can come back strong whenever he wants.”

Moving on from fast bowlers to spinners in the IPL, Sekar said, he is expecting spinners to dominate as the season progresses. “The wickets are such which are suiting the fast bowler more but as the season goes on spinners will come into picture.

Pawan Negi and Sunny Gupta have impressed me and our bowling well. One being a genuine left arm spinner other being a genuine off-spin bowler. These are the boys who have impressed me. Iqbal Abdulla did well last season but unfortunately he hasn’t got enough opportunity this season. Bhargav Bhatt has done well in whatever opportunity he has got.” He added.

Delhi Daredevils have won 4 out of their last five matches and are placed on top of the table with eight points. Whereas their opponents of Saturday evening, Pune Warriors India are trying hard to get back their momentum after consecutive away losses against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings.
