After electing to bat first, Deccan Chargers made a shaky start losing opener Daniel Harris and skipper Kumar Sangakkara at the paltry score of 33.
Dhawan and White joined forces in the sixth over of the innings, and added 126 runs for the third wicket to strengthen their side’s position.
The left-handed Deccan opener, Dhawan, perhaps missed out on a century when he fell for 84 in the 18th over, which came from just 49 balls.
Dhawan swatted five sixes and nine boundaries during his quickfire knock.
Australian cricketer Cameron White, who has been in a stunning form this season, clobbered two sixes and seven boundaires and fell in the 20th over, scoring 65 off 40 balls.
