IPL 2012: Our bowling attack was too inexperienced, says JP Duminy

Deccan Chargers batsman Jean-Paul Duminy said that 187 was enough against Delhi Daredevils, but the Australian opener David Warner played out of his skin to ensure a win for the Delhi team.

“We just needed to stick to our plans. At the end of the day, we were a pretty inexperienced bowling attack. We loaded up the batting today, which came off. Unfortunately, we just didn’t bowl well in the end,” justified Duminy.

Rusty Theron was dropped in order to strengthen the batting of the Deccan team, but the move backfired.

“Even though we have an inexperienced bowling attack, there are some quality players who can do the job for us. Unfortunately, coming up against the likes of David Warner, a world-class player who played out of his skin today, we were just not good enough,” Duminy was quoted by iplt20.com.

Talking about how Deccan Chargers have been unable to turn good performances into wins, Duminy said, “We have been in winning positions most of the time; today again, with 180-odd on the board. And more often than not, when we score 180, we win.”

“Unfortunately, we lack a bit of confidence because we have not been winning. I guess that finishing touch in the end hasn’t been there. Hopefully, we can find our way somehow in the last few games. It is more of a mental block,” he concluded.
