England batsman Kevin Pietersen is likely to miss out on the Indian Premier League riches after fracturing his thumb during the One-day series against India.
The India Premier League teams are doubtful to splash the cash on the injured Pietersen.
The auction fee of the former England captain is set to tumble from $1.55 million last year to $650,000 this year.
Pietersen had hoped to play for England in Saturday's T20 at Eden Gardens, knowing a big innings would have given him a timely boost to his shares ahead of the auction for next year's -tournament.
The 31-year-old batsman played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League in both 2009 and 2010.
