Sri Lankan bowlers picked up wickets at regular intervals to keep a check on the scoring rate of Pakistan and deny them from constructing any substantial partnership.
Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq and Misbah-ul-Haq got off to a good start but couldn’t convert them into substantially big scores. All three of them got out while batting in their 30’s.
Nuwan Kulasekara and Jeevan mendis picked up two wickets each.
Earlier, Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq had won the toss and had elected to bat first.
Sri Lanka is leading the series 2-1 after they sensationally clinched the fourth ODI at the back of Thissara Perera’s hat-trick. One game of the series was washed out. Pakistan are looking to win this game and level the series are questions are being asked about its batting line-up – one that has looked brittle.
Pakistan came into the match with two changes as Younis Khan and Saeed Ajmal made way for Imran Farhat and Mohammed Sami. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka dropped the left arm spinner Sajeewa Weerakoon and included Jeevan Mendis in their line-up
