Middle-order batsman Manoj Tiwary on Sunday completed a fine century for India A against Australia during the second day’s play of the second and final warm-up match at the Guru Nanak Ground in Chennai.
Tiwary continued his good form with the bat after scoring a fluent half-century for Rest of India against Mumbai in the Irani Cup match, and once again reminded the national selectors about the talent that he has with the century against the Australians.
The right-handed batsman struck 15 boundaries and two sixes to reach 104 not out, which came from 149 balls. His ton came up with a hit over the fence off Australian spinner Xavier Doherty.
Tiwary has a long list of injuries due to which he has missed many opportunities to play for the Indian side. In 2007, he missed the chance to make his international debut against Bangladesh when he injured his shoulder on the eve of the match.
In 2009, he got injured during the Indian Premier League and was consequently ruled out of the ICC World Twenty20 squad despite being in the list of probable.
