Hyderabad: Mar 3, 2013

Statistical highlights on the second day of the second cricket Test between India and Australia in Hyderabad on Sunday.

# Murali Vijay (129 batting) has posted his second century in Tests -- both his centuries are against Australia -- the first one being 139 at Bangalore in October 2010. In between his two hundreds, no other Indian opener had recorded a hundred against Australia in Tests.

# Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara have shared a partnership of 294 (unbroken), India's highest second wicket partnership against Australia, eclipsing the 224 between Mohinder Amarnath and Sunil Gavaskar at Sydney in 1985-86.

# The said stand is India's third highest for the second wicket behind the 344 (unbroken) between Sunil Gavaskar and Dilip Vengsarkar against West Indies at Kolkata in 1978-79 and 314 between Rahul Dravid and Gautam Gambhir against England at Mohali in 2008-09.

# The above second-wicket stand is the highest for any wicket at Uppal, obliterating the 160 for the first wicket between Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag against New Zealand in November 2010.

# The 294-run unbroken partnership is India's sixth best against Australia for any wicket - the highest is 376 between Dravid and Laxman for fifth wicket at Kolkata in 2000-01.

# Pujara (162 not out off 251 balls) has posted his fourth hundred in Tests - one each against Australia and New Zealand and two against England.

# Pujara has posted back to back centuries at Uppal - 159 vs New Zeealand in August 2012 and 162 not out on Sunday. He has become the first player to make two hundreds at this ground.

# Pujara's brilliant strike rate of 64.54 is his highest when he has posted a Test hundred. His aggregate of 321 at an average of 321.00 in two innings is the highest at Uppal.

# Pujara's aforesaid unbeaten knock is the second highest at this venue - the highest being Brendon McCullum's 225 for New Zealand in November 2010.

# Virender Sehwag has continued his poor form, averaging 15.88 in his last ten Test innings against Australia - his tally being 158, including a fifty.
