Indian openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir will look to put on a decent score on a damp pitch after Pakistan won the toss and decided to let India have a go with the bat first.
The first of the three ODIs between the two teams will see the implementation of the new ICC rules for One-Day Internationals.
There will be only two blocks of Powerplay overs, instead of three – there will be no bowling powerplay. During non-Powerplay overs, a maximum of four fielders can be placed outside the circle, a reduction from the earlier five. Also, five fielders will have to be in the ring at all times.
For bowlers, two bouncers have been allowed per over.
