Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) and Rajasthan Sports Council’s (RSC) tussle may lead to Irani Cup moving out of Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur from September 21 to 25.
According to report from The Hindu, work on preparation for the match has come to a standstill.
“The ground staff have not been able to access the playing arena for more than a fortnight now,” an RCA official said.
The match may be shifted out of Rajasthan as no other venue has the infrastructure to host a match of this importance.
“This match has to be telecast live and this is not possible at grounds located outside Jaipur,” said the official.
In a late development, sources said RSC may allow the match to go on. However, the final decision will be taken only on Tuesday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is keeping a close tab on the development of the issue.
“I had spoken to the RCA officials last week. They had assured me that they would find a solution,” said Sanjay Jagdale, secretary of BCCI.
Jagdale also confirmed that the Rest of India team for Irani Cup will be picked on September 10, 2012.
