South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis paid tribute to Rahul Dravid, who retired from international cricket last week, saying that he is the game’s truest servant.
“He has been a shining example of what a true servant to the game represents,” he was quoted in bcci.tv.
Kallis and Dravid have played together for Indian Premier League franchisee Royal Challengers Bangalore for three seasons.
Recalling his experience, Kallis said, “He was a very quiet and kind man who always played the game in the right spirit. I was fortunate to play in a few games alongside him during the IPL,” Kallis said.
“He has one of the best techniques that I have seen. Once you got him out, you always felt that you had a chance [in the game].”
“What he has achieved in the game is incredible. He set high standards for himself and for India. The game will be poorer for not having him around but I’m sure he will enjoy his retirement; he deserves it and he will be missed,” Kallis concluded.
