A splendid century by Bharat Chipli’s helped hosts KSCA (Karnataka State Cricket Association) XI beat the Mumbai Indians (MI) in a warm-up match. The match was held at the RSI Grounds in Bengaluru.
Batting first, the Mumbai Indians managed a low score of 124 runs with a loss of nine wickets off 20 overs. James Franklin and Ambati Rayudu made valiant contributions with the bat for MI while left-arm spinner SK Moinuddin (three wickets) and pacer NC Aiyappa (two wickets) helped KSCA XI restrict the IPL side to a below par score.
Chasing the target, Chipli smashed the Mumbai Indians bowlers all over the park which helped KSCA win the match. He made 101 from 50 balls in an innings that included seven boundaries and eight sixes.
Andrew Symonds (two wickets) and Ali Murtuza (one wicket) picked up three wickets in quick time which gave some hope to MI to remain alive in the match but lack of runs on didn’t allow a contest. KSCA XI ultimately won the match by seven wickets, with 40 balls remaining to be bowled.
