David Hussey’s heroics has helped Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) register a thrilling victory against the Deccan Chargers (DC) in the 61st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012 at Mohali in a close encounter on Sunday. With the win, Deccan are placed seventh in the points table.
Chasing the big total, Punjab lost two crucial wickets at the start in form of Nitin Saini and Shaun Marsh, both dismissed by Daniel Christian.
David Hussey and Azhar Mahmood consolidated the innings for the fourth wicket but spinner Amit Mishra soon dismissed Mahmood in the 13th over.
But the match turned out to be a close encounter as Hussey played a heroic inning for the home side.
Brief Score DC 190 for 4 in 20 overs (Shikhar Dhawan 71, Cameron White 67*; Azhar Mahmood 2 for 39, Praveen Kumar 1 for 31) lost to KXIP 194 for 6 (David Hussey 65*, Azhar Mahmood 31*; Dale Steyn 2 for 26, Daniel Christian 2 for 31) by four wickets.
