Sri Lanka suffered a major blow on Saturday when their senior cricketer Kumar Sangakkara was ruled out of action for 4-6 weeks due to a broken finger.
"Latest from the Sri Lanka dressing room: Sangakkara has fractured his finger. Is out for 4-6 weeks," informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on their Twitter page.
The left-handed batsman was hurt on his fingers during his innings of 73 against India during their third One-Day International at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Sangakkara was hit in his fingers on the final delivery of the 15th over of the game, bowled by Ashok Dinda. He was batting on 24.
Half-centuries by Sangakkara, Angelo Mathews and Mahela Jayawardene propelled Sri Lanka to a huge score of 286 for five in their third ODI against India.
