Sri Lanka needs 281 runs to win and top the CB Series points table. Peter Forrest’s maiden century guided Australia to 158 against Sri Lanka in their ninth One-Day International at Bellerive Oval, Hobart on Friday.
Regular skipper Michael Clarke returned to the Australian, recovering from a hamstring strain, decided to bat first after winning the toss.
Australia lost early wickets of Matthew Wade and David Warner in the first seven overs.
Forrest along with Clarke helped Australia reach a confident score before both the batsmen were dismissed.
David Hussey scored a quick 40 from 28 balls.
All-rounder Shane Watson was rested in the match at Hobart. The imposing cricketer was missing in action for past many weeks because of a calf injury.
