Chennai Super Kings (CSK) reached a score of 158 runs for the loss of six wickets against Highveld Lions in the Champions League T20 (CLT20) 2012 Group B match at Cape Town on Tuesday.
Earlier Highveld Lions won the toss and asked Chennai Super Kings to bat first.
Openers Faf du Plessis and Murali Vijay gave a solid start as they added 44 runs for the first wicket.
However a disciplined effort by Lions bowlers put a brake on CSK’s scoring as they lost wickets at regular interval.
A fifty-run partnership between MS Dhoni and S Badrinath consolidated the innings.
Skipper MS Dhoni (34) and S Badrinath took charge at a time when the batting struggled at 106 runs for the loss of five wickets.
