Rajasthan Royals (RR) reached a score of 164 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the seventh match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2012 at Jaipur on Sunday.
Earlier winning the toss, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Gautam Gambhir asked RR to bat first. Despite losing the explosive opener Ajinkya Rahane early – star of Rajasthan’s victory over Kings XI Punjab, skipper Rahul Dravid gave a solid start.
But Dravid was run out on 26 runs by Iqbal Abdulla. Shreevats Goswami departed after making 23 runs as he was cleaned up by Rajat Bhatia.
In the death overs, explosive batting by Owais Shah and Menaria propelled Rajasthan to the challenging total. Menaria scored 40 runs before being dismissed by Lee in the penultimate over.
Middle-order batsmen Brad Hodge and Ashok Menaria’s 64–run partnership for the fourth wicket guided Rajasthan Royals (RR) to a respectable total.
Both Hodge and Menaria were dismissed by pacer Brett Lee who picked two wickets conceding 29 runs.
Brief Score: Rajasthan Royals 164 for 5 in 20 overs (Brad Hodge 44, Ashok Menaria 40; Rahul Dravid 26; Brett Lee 2 for 29) vs Kolkata Knight Riders
