Mumbai Indians will chase 174 against Chennai Super Kings in their Champions League T20 2012 match at Johannesburg.

 

Batting first, Chennai reached a a total of 173 against Mumbai despite Lasith Malinga's five-wicket haul

 

Chennai, however, squandered a good start given by Faf du Plessis and Murali Vijay to crawl to 173 for eight in their alotted 20 overs.

 

The Super Kings had raced to 86 runs in eight overs when Mumbai Indians' spinner Pragyan Ojha provided them the much-needed breakthrough, dismissing Murali Vijay.

 

Du Plessis struck 52  and Vijay scored 39  to add 86 runs for the first wicket to provide their side a strong start.

 

Du Plessis struck six boundaries and a six to score 52, which came from 33 balls.

 

Vijay's 39 came from 25 balls studded with five boundaries and two sixes.

 

But after their fall, Chennai stummbled from 101 for two in the 11th over to 145 for five in the 17th.

 

Earlier, Mumbai Indians skipper Harbhajan Singh won the toss and elected to field against Chennai Super Kings.
