Tresspassers will be recruited! - Madhura Honey (L) is going places - literally and figuratively © Getty Images and AFP
Please note: This is a humorous piece – pure fiction.
Good girls don’t make history, goes a popular belief. Madhura Honey will vouch for that. After ‘innocently’ walking next to the Indian flag-bearer at the London Olympic opening ceremony and becoming an overnight global celebrity, Madhura now finds herself in hot demand that promises her new-found celebrity status improving her bank balance!
The latest news coming from the Indian Premier League (IPL) is that Madhura has been signed up by the cash-rich Indian cricket league for the 2013 season as a “Roving Ambassador”!
“With the kind of luck she is enjoying at present, she could gatecrash into NASA's next space programme,” bitched one of Madhura’s college mate, who obviously does not want to be named.
Asked what exactly her role would be during the IPL, Madhura explained: “I will just be a star attraction - like an ‘icon player’. All I have to do is to just show up.”
When asked how she managed to break into the Indian contingent in the opening ceremony, she replied, “It was a mistake. It can happen with anyone. Look at Rohit Sharma, he accidently broke into the Indian team for the tour of Sri Lanka. And now Piyush Chawla has strayed into the World Cup squad.”
Meanwhile, the media was stunned to see Madhura at Team India’s practice camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. When quizzed how Madhura was there at Indian team practice session, BCCI chief N Srinivasan was candid in his reply: “May be she managed to trespass here as well!”
