Rajeev Bajpai produced an all-round show as North Zone defeated South Zone by seven wickets to register their second consecutive win in SJFI's 36th inter-zonal JK Bose Twenty20 cricket tournament on Thursday.
By virtue of this victory, North remained the only undefeated team in the tournament and is now poised to win the title after many years.
Lucknow-based Bajpai scalped two wickets for 22 runs to restrict South to 144 and then scored 57 with the bat to guide North to the facile win with 16 balls to spare.
After his 54-ball unbeaten 85 yesterday, Amit Chaudhary came up with yet another sterling performance to help North's cause.
Chaudhary turned out to be the pick of North bowlers with figures of three for 23 and then scored valuable 28 to set up his team's chase.
Meanwhile, in the second match of the day, West Zone beat East Zone by 35 runs.
North will now play West and South will take on East in the last round-robin league matches on Saturday.(PTI)

West Zone 144 for 5 in 20 overs (Devendra Pandey 37, Sanjeev Samyal 35 not out, Ripple Christy 42 not out, Subodh Malla Barua 3/21) beat East Zone 109 for 6 wkts in 20 overs (Tahid Ali Talukdar 61 not out, Ehtiram Ali 3/29) by 35 runs.
