Legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev on Wednesday said Sachin Tendulkar is above all awards, amidst voices calling for Bharat Ratna to be conferred on the master-blaster.
Former India World Cup-winning captain said Tendulkar deserve such honours and it should not be demanded.
“Sachin has proved himself over the years and has achieved many things in his career. We shouldn’t ask or demand Bharat Ratna for him as we all know he deserves it. By demanding the award, we are not doing justice to his talent. Sooner or later, he will get the award,” Kapil Dev was reported saying in DNA.
Kapil Dev said it was Tendulkar’s dedication and determination that helped him rise to such a high level.
“When Sachin and Vinod Kambli started playing, they were at the same level. But Sachin’s determination and focus helped him. On the other hand, Vinod had too many distractions.
“He also had the skills, but he lacked concentration and wanted to do so many things at the same time. That is why Vinod and Sachin are at two different levels.”
